The Rolling Stones Launch New Album Foreign Tongues With Star-Studded London Party And Thames Drone Show

The Rolling Stones celebrated the release of their new album, Foreign Tongues, with an exclusive launch party in London and a spectacular drone light show over the River Thames.

The private event was hosted by Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood on the terrace of luxury hotel St. Clement, bringing together a host of high-profile guests to mark the arrival of the band’s 28th studio album. Among those in attendance were Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Sam Fender, Sacha Baron Cohen, Christian Louboutin, John McEnroe, Glen Matlock and Vernon Kay.

The Rolling Stones light up the London skyline

The celebrations concluded with a landmark drone display above the Thames, with 500 synchronised drones illuminating the skyline around the London Eye and Big Ben.

Created by acclaimed lighting and production designer Patrick Woodroffe, the display featured the band’s iconic tongue logo and artwork from Foreign Tongues. The aerial spectacle was choreographed to the group’s latest single, In The Stars.

Woodroffe said:

“The music for the 500 drone light show was set to the new Stones song ‘In The Stars’ and is a fitting metaphor to see the iconic and much loved Stones’ tongue hanging over the River Thames to celebrate a record made here in the city of London.”

Foreign Tongues was recorded entirely in London

Foreign Tongues was recorded at Metropolis Studios in London, the band’s hometown, and becomes The Rolling Stones‘ 28th studio album.

The group revealed the project came together remarkably quickly.

“We put this album together in under a month at Metropolis Studios in our hometown of London – it was a lot of fun. The critics seem to like it, we hope everyone loves it!”
