Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2026 inductees, with a record number of British artists included in this year’s class. The list was revealed on 13 April during an episode of American Idol by Ryan Seacrest and Lionel Richie.
Among the headline names are Sade, Oasis and Iron Maiden, alongside Phil Collins, Billy Idol and Joy Division/New Order, who are recognised as a single act.
Record year for British artists
Six of the eight performer inductees are British, the highest number in a single year in the Hall of Fame’s 40-year history. The previous record was five, set in 2019 when Radiohead, The Cure, Def Leppard, Roxy Music and The Zombies were inducted.
The dominance marks a sharp contrast to 2021, when there were no British inductees at all.
