Spandau Ballet are reportedly close to reuniting for a full comeback tour, with all five original members in talks following years of internal disputes.
According to reports, negotiations are underway between the band and agents, with a deal said to be nearing completion. If confirmed, the reunion would mark the first time the classic line-up has performed together in over a decade.
Original line-up expected to return
The proposed comeback would feature:
- Gary Kemp
- Martin Kemp
- Steve Norman
- John Keeble
- Tony Hadley
A source quoted in reports said talks have “gone better than anyone expected” and that “the reunion is on,” with an official tour announcement expected soon.
Comeback follows years of tensions
The reunion would represent a major shift after decades of well-documented tensions within the band.
Spandau Ballet split in 1990 before reuniting in 2009, only for tensions to resurface. In 1999, Hadley, Norman and Keeble took legal action against Gary Kemp over songwriting royalties, a case they ultimately lost in the High Court.
Hadley later left the band in 2017, stating it was due to:
“due to circumstances beyond my control”
The group continued touring without him in 2018, bringing in a replacement vocalist, but plans stalled after further disruption.
Why a reunion now
Momentum for legacy acts has grown in recent years, with Oasis’s 2025 reunion tour generating more than $540 million in ticket sales, highlighting the commercial potential for major British comebacks.
Earlier in 2026, Gary Kemp also signalled optimism about a reunion in an interview with NME.
“Will there be another Spandau Ballet reunion? I hope so.”
A defining band of the 80s
Formed in London in 1979, Spandau Ballet became one of the defining bands of the New Romantic era, scoring global hits including “Gold” and “True.”
Beyond music, Gary and Martin Kemp also built acting careers, notably starring in The Krays.
If confirmed, the reunion tour would mark a significant moment for fans and for one of the UK’s most recognisable pop groups.
